Fixture congestion, Goal of the Month and farewell Jake White
The final month of the season is upon us.
Crunch time isn’t it.
The season is mosying along (almost) nicely and then suddenly, we’re into the final month.
And there is going to be A LOT of football this month. Whether it’s Sandhurst Town’s 14 games to Maidenhead United’s six.
You can obviously keep up with all the fixtures on our Fixtures & Scores page but just be aware the way games change and move around at the moment, it is ALWAYS worth checking with the host club before you travel.
I don’t know if it is recency bias, but this season feels like it has been particularly hard-hit by the weather and I find myself wondering how you can fix that. Some leagues front load fixtures at the start of the season and inevitably, there’s a scarcity of games at the end.
Others release fixtures bit by bit, no doubt trying to second guess the weather, but the reality is, with ground grading requirements, ground shares, an now, bigger divisions, there are probably too many matches.
What do you cut? The only thing I can really come up with is removing League Cup competitions. The FA Cup, Trophy/Vase and County Cups feel important and offer either financial rewards or ‘big games’ - or in some cases both.
So it’s League Cups that need to go. I don’t know if you agree? Or have a better idea? Let me know in the comments.

Farewell Jake White
Sandhurst Town striker Jake White is hanging up his boots following a second serious injury in quick succession.
The 29-year-old forward confirmed the news in a Twitter post following an ACL and Meniscus injury in the recent Fizzers fixture against London Samurai Rovers.
White said: “And just like that it’s the end! It’s been a rollercoaster but I’ve enjoyed it!! Massive thank you to everyone who’s coached me along the way! Matt Eggleston and Dan Bateman thank you guys for bringing the best out in me in a Wokingham shirt and making it so enjoyable!”
