It’s been a County Cup week with Hungerford Town going out on penalties to MK Dons while Bracknell Town offered up a rout of Reading FC to advance to the semi-finals - Abi Ticehurst’s report from Bottom Meadow is here.
A lovely segue there into the weekend as Abi jumps on commentary with a live stream on Sunday of Reading FC Women vs Maidenhead United Women in the County Cup semi-final from Arbour Park.
It’s a first for us - and when anyone wonders why we have ads on the site, it’s to pay for this kind of thing - as we team up again with FC Video. More details on the game here and you can also click the video above to be notified when the stream goes live.
Dave Wright meanwhile has filed on the tragic circumstances surrounding Thatcham Town’s recent Southern League fixture at Bashley.
“Thatcham Town’s Southern League Division 1 South fixture against Bashley on Tuesday, 12th of February, was at a club reeling in sadness,” he writes. The full story is here.
No apologies for this tease, Wokingham Town have a new midfielder - and he’s a very popular, experienced face in Berkshire football. Find out who here.
Hitting The Road: Special Edition Match Programme for Reading YMCA vs AFC Winkfield
Football in Berkshire is proud to launch ‘Hitting The Road’, a celebration of community football in the Royal County.
Taking a hint from the brilliant East Berks Football League’s regular SHOWCASE games, the FiB team will be picking a game or two each season across the men’s and women’s season as a ‘Hitting The Road’ event, and we’d love you to come and join us.
As a trial run, we thought where better than Reading YMCA – winners of the 2024 Berkshire Football Awards Matchday Experience trophy – to host our first Hitting The Road event.
The Thames Valley Premier League side play out at Padworth Village Hall off the A4 Bath Road near Reading and will face AFC Winkfield.
Entry is usually free – and will remain so – but Football in Berkshire will be producing a limited edition matchday programme – which can be purchased in advance – to mark the event with a few words from our special guest, Paul Watson.
Paul kindly hosted the Berkshire Football Awards in 2024 but will be most well known as a panellist on Guardian Football Weekly, co-host of The Sweeper podcast and author of the brilliant football book ‘Up Pohnpei!’.
